Debi grew up influenced by her father's musical career as a violinist in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and her mother's tremendous support in getting her to often far and distant piano lessons! She began taking piano lessons at age 5, studying with Martha Voisin, an accomplished pianist, and Leo Litwin, known for his Rhapsody in Blue with the Boston Pops. She was the pianist for her high school's musical productions. Debi continued to study piano while pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse, but her passion for music came to the foreground during her stay-at-home years raising young children, when Debi began writing children's songs in the Christian contemporary genre and playing for local nursing homes and community productions. From 2000-2005 she served as the music director for St. Anselm parish in Sudbury, and pursued Christian contemporary songwriting for her congregation and other local churches. Debi writes music and lyrics in the contemporary Christian/inspirational genre, as well as more recently folk rock/pop ballads, and alt- country genres. In 2005, Debi and other "baby boomers" formed an original band called Alter Ego (AlterEgoSongs.com) who play out once/month for fundraisers, or at local venues. Debi has always loved teaching and working with kids and has had years of experience. While raising her own three daughters,(now 21, 18, and 16) she co-directed Christmas pageants, was a girl-scout leader, taught Relig. Education classes, organized and led Children's Liturgies, and vacation bible schools. Debi began teaching piano in her home about 5 years ago, as her own children got older. It is one of her joys in life to pass on her love for music, combining her knowledge of classical technique, theory, and pop/rock styles to give each student a well-rounded experience. She also enjoys teaching beginning adults, who want quick results and want to play for fun!
